A wedding invitation used to mean a printed card and a handwritten note. Today, many families also send a short video through WhatsApp, and it often gets more attention than the card itself. A well-made wedding video shows the couple, the date, the venue and a warm message in less than thirty seconds, and people can forward it to relatives with one tap. The best part is that you do not need a professional editor to make one. A few good photos and Alight Motion on your phone are enough.

In this post I will explain how to make a wedding photo video in Alight Motion, such as a save the date, an invitation reel or a short celebration video. I will cover how to plan what appears on the screen, which photos to choose, how to open the project, how to replace the pictures and the text, and how to export a clean video. Almost every edit I share on Editaurastudio is made in Alight Motion, so the steps below follow the way I normally work on my phone.

Types of Wedding Videos You Can Make

Before you start, decide what kind of video you want. The same project can be used in different ways, but the text and photos change.

  • Save the date. A short video with the couple's photos, the names and the wedding date, sent weeks before the invitation.
  • Wedding invitation reel. A video that adds the time, the venue name and a short invitation message.
  • Engagement or pre-wedding reel. A softer video built mostly on photos of the couple together.

What to Show on the Screen

A wedding video should be easy to read in a few seconds, so keep the text short and clear. These are the details most families include:

  • The names of the bride and groom
  • The wedding date, and the muhurtham time if you want to include it
  • The name of the venue and the town
  • A short invitation line, such as a welcome or a request for blessings
  • The names of the families, if they wish to be included

For public posts, it is wise to share only the date, the venue name and the town. Send the full address, phone numbers and any detailed plans directly to guests in a private message. This keeps the celebration open to the people you want and protects your family's privacy.

Plan the Video Structure

A simple structure makes the video feel organized. This one works well for fifteen to thirty seconds.

  1. The opening (first 4 seconds). The names of the couple or a simple "Save the Date" line with the best photo.
  2. The photo section (next 10 to 15 seconds). Three or four photos of the couple, with smooth movement.
  3. The details (next 5 seconds). The date, the time and the venue, shown clearly on a calm background.
  4. The closing (last 3 seconds). A warm invitation line and a final photo.

Choosing the Right Photos

Good photos make the video feel special. Choose pictures that look natural and happy, and mix a few different types:

  • A photo of the couple together, smiling at each other or at the camera
  • A pre-wedding or engagement photo in good light
  • One photo of the bride and one of the groom, if the project allows separate frames
  • A family photo, if the video is for a wider invitation

Photos taken in soft natural light, such as morning or evening, look the best. Keep the faces clear and avoid photos where the couple is very small in the frame. Use the original files from your gallery, because pictures sent through chat apps lose quality and look soft when the video zooms in. If the photos were taken by a professional photographer, ask for their permission before using them in a public video, since the photographer usually owns the rights to the images.

What You Need Before You Start

  • An Android phone or iPhone with the latest version of Alight Motion
  • At least 1.5 GB of free storage
  • Four to six photos of the couple and family
  • The names, date, time and venue written down correctly
  • A soft wedding music track saved on your phone
  • Internet to open the project link

Step-by-Step: How to Make the Wedding Video

Step 1: Update Alight Motion

Open the Play Store or App Store and check for an update. A project made in a newer version may not open in an older one, so updating first can save you a lot of trouble.

Step 2: Open the project

Tap the project link given at the end of this post and confirm the import when Alight Motion asks. After a few seconds, the project appears on the home screen of the app. If the link opens in your browser, use the option there to open it in the app.

Step 3: Watch the preview

Play the video once without changing anything. Count the photo layers and the text layers, and notice where the main details appear. This helps you decide which photo should open the video and where the date and venue should go.

Step 4: Replace the photos

Tap a photo layer in the timeline and choose the option to replace the media. Select your own photo from the gallery. The new photo takes the place of the old one and keeps the animation. Repeat this for every photo layer. Menu names can look slightly different between app versions, but the idea is the same. Put your best couple photo at the opening and your most relaxed photo near the end.

Step 5: Fit faces inside the frame

After replacing a photo, check how it sits in the frame. Faces should stay in the clear area and should not be hidden by borders, flowers or text. For couple photos, make sure both faces are fully visible during the whole movement. Use scale and position to adjust, and avoid stretching the photo.

Step 6: Write the names and details

Tap each text layer and type the names, the date, the time and the venue. Read every word twice, because a mistake in a wedding date or a name is very hard to fix after the video has been forwarded to many people. You can write in Kannada, English or both. Choose a font that supports Kannada, because some fonts show empty boxes instead of letters. If the new text is longer than the old one, reduce the font size so it stays inside the frame.

Step 7: Choose a clean look

If the project has color or light layers, adjust them gently. Warm gold, soft red and cream tones suit most weddings, and a little glow adds a festive feeling. Avoid very strong filters, because they can change the color of the clothes and the skin. Make small changes and check the preview after each one.

Step 8: Add the music

Tap the plus icon, choose Audio and select your track. Soft instrumental music, nadaswaram or a gentle traditional tune works well for a wedding video. Trim it so the calmest and most pleasant part plays with the details. If the project already has an audio layer, replace it so two tracks do not play together.

Step 9: Match the timing

Play the video slowly and watch where each photo and text appears. A change should land near a beat or at the end of a musical phrase. The date and venue should stay on the screen long enough to be read, which usually means at least three seconds. If something feels early or late, drag the edge of the layer by a few frames.

Step 10: Check and export

Watch the whole video with headphones. Ask someone else in the family to read the names, the date and the venue, because a fresh pair of eyes will catch mistakes that you may miss. When everything is correct, tap the share icon and export the video using the settings below.

Tips for a Better Wedding Video

  • Keep the text large and clear. Many guests will watch it on a small phone screen.
  • Give the date and venue enough time on the screen, and do not hide them behind effects.
  • Keep faces and text away from the bottom of the screen, because WhatsApp Status and Reels place buttons and captions there.

When to Share the Video

A save the date video is usually sent three to four weeks before the wedding, and the invitation reel one to two weeks before. Send it first to close family and friends in a private message or a family group, and share it publicly only if the family is comfortable with that. A short message with the video, such as a polite request to attend, is more personal than a forwarded file alone.

Best Export Settings

  • Resolution: 1080p for the best quality. Use 720p if your phone is slow or gets hot.
  • Frame rate: 30 fps is enough for most phones.
  • Format: MP4 video

Keep the screen on while exporting and close other apps before you start.

Common Problems and Easy Fixes

The project does not open. Update Alight Motion, check your internet and try the link again or in a different browser.

The text does not fit. Reduce the font size or split a long name or venue into two lines.

The Kannada text shows empty boxes. The font does not support Kannada. Choose another font that does.

The photos look blurry. Use the original photos from your gallery instead of ones sent through messaging apps.

The app lags or crashes. Free up storage, close other apps and export at 720p.

An effect is missing or a watermark appears. Some effects may need the paid version, and the free version may add a watermark. Check your plan inside the app.

Photo, Music and Privacy

Use only photos that belong to you or that you have permission to use, and make sure the couple and both families are happy with what is being shared. Ask the photographer before you use professional photos in a public video. Avoid pictures downloaded from the internet and photos of celebrities. Get your music from an official source and follow the rules of the platform where you upload. I do not host any photos or audio on this website.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fewer photos?
Yes. You can use the same photo on more than one layer or use different crops of one picture.

Can I use video clips instead of photos?
In many projects you can replace a layer with a video clip. Try one layer first and check how it looks.

Does the project link cost anything?
Using the link on this page does not cost anything. Whether every effect works depends on your Alight Motion plan.
